There’s certain events that even if you show up tired, you leave with more energy than you came in with.
It’s not even always about the speaker, or the food, or the decor-all of which are extremely important.
Sometimes, what recharges you at an event is the entertainment.
Unfortunately, most corporate events tend to neglect it and though the event may be valuable, the audience is unable to fully grasp it as it just does not appeal.
So today, we’ll be going through a few types of entertainment that you could push forward at your corporate events.
Stick around if you want to find out what you can do to entertain your guests at a corporate function.
How Does it Help?
Keeping your guests entertained can contribute to how engaged they are.
If you’re able to keep them laughing, smiling, intrigued, curious, and not bored, you almost definitely will be able to hold their attention as your event progresses.
You’ll also increase how easily they remember the event.
The joke, the song, the quiz, or whatever else it is that sparks your guests’ mind, will act as a banner for your event within their memory.
You’ll become a master at creating memorable events.
Here’s a few things you could try.
1.Music
With music you have to be very careful.
Certain kinds of music may be unappealing or even annoying for people in your audience.
The tough part is you’ll never know who. Therefore, it is best that you select music that is not overly biassed to, for example, more romantic people or people with a passion for heavy metal.
We’d recommend that you pick music without lyrics as instrumentals tend to be objectively subtle and entertaining to most people.
Furthermore, you should make sure that the music complements and doesn’t interrupt the event.
What that means is the music should be audible but not too loud to the point that it affects the event flow and becomes the centrepiece.
We’d recommend subtle music for almost every corporate event. It tends to fill the space with a bit more energy aside from the hushed voices of attendees.
2.Live Band
You might think that we should have placed live bands under the music subheading above but there’s a few things that make live bands different.
When there’s a live band at a corporate event, you can choose for them to be the centre of attention, or for them to play more subtle background music that still entertains your audience.
You could even choose a mix of both versions and have your audience focusing on them for some parts of the function-your pick.
Live bands can sometimes be quite costly though.
Aside from that, they are a great entertainment option for smaller and more casual corporate events such as dinners and book launches.
3.Comedy
We’ve all heard the saying “Laughter is the best medicine”.
That goes for both your wellbeing and your event.
Laughter keeps your audience in a cheerful mood that makes the rest of the event seem like a fun activity to them.
One way to bring laughter to your corporate event is to hire an experienced comedian.
However, take note that you must consider the event objective very carefully
For example, a comedian at a board meeting or product launch doesn’t make the most sense.
It’s best to bring this on, once again, for more casual corporate events.
However, that doesn’t mean your event should be stone cold. No.
You could encourage speakers to integrate humour into the program and do their best to keep a smile on the audience’s faces.
4.Speakers
On the topic of speakers, you need to make sure that you bring on the very best to your event.
Of course not every speaker is funny, or charming, or overflowing with energy, but you should at least try to incorporate a few with such perks into the event program.
The speakers that come on can either build a wonderful event vibe or completely tear down whatever vibe you may have started to construct.
So pick your speakers wisely.
If you’re planning on hosting a corporate function for more than 2 hours, you definitely need speakers that will pump some energy into the crowd-else you’ll see tired eyes among the audience.
5.Auctions and Raffles
Here’s another interesting one. Auctions and Raffles.
There’s something about the human brain that just delights in competition. Don’t ask me-I don’t know what it is.
What I do know is that competition is entertaining for those taking part and for those watching from the sidelines.
That’s why activities like auctions and raffles act as entertainment at events.
Although they may only be suited to corporate functions with more people, they could still be considered as one of the best ways of prolonging entertainment at a gathering.
It would be best if you tried an auction or raffle at networking events, conferences, and even large scale product launches.
6.Trivias
Last but definitely not least, we have trivias.
Now when we talk of trivia, it’s basically a trip down memory lane to primary school where you’d raise your hand if you know the answer and then put it back down when someone else answers correctly first, prompting you to realise that your answer was wrong.
I’m joking, in corporate events it isn’t like that. Most of the time.
Trivias can be fun ways of checking your audience knowledge and thus extremely useful at educational events such as conferences and workshops.
Furthermore, they improve your audience’s ability to recall what you’ve just educated them about and thus push forward the event objective.
Unfortunately though, implementing a trivia in events with objectives other than education is a bit ineffective and irrelevant.
Nevertheless, if you’re hosting an education centred function, you could consider a trivia to keep your guests entertained.
