Creativity is a word that is used very often-almost too often.
But do we really even know what it means?
It can be defined as one’s ability to bend their imagination in unique ways to solve problems, improve situations, and perform basic actions in extraordinary ways.
When planning an internal corporate gathering, you want to be creative in your choice of set-up, venue, and activities.
As we discussed in one of our articles about team building, such functions can positively influence your brand as well as boost employee morale and chemistry with each other, turning the office into a powerhouse of efficient collaboration.
There’s all sorts of creative things you could try.
Here’s our top 5.
1.Development Workshops
Starting things off with the classic development workshop.
Though some may say that workshops are becoming boring and overly bureaucratic, they are still amazing ways of developing your employees’ skills and abilities.
When hosting a workshop, you shouldn’t plan it around what you want your employees to learn, but what they need to learn-big difference.
So start by finding out what employees struggle with in office.
You can then plan a development workshop around what you found out.
However, make sure you integrate some form of engagement to keep your employees actively part of the function, increasing their learnings and enjoyment.
You can check out our article here on engagement if you need some tips.
2.Debates
We’ve all been in one of those friendly arguments that seem to make time fly past as we open our minds to the perspectives of others as well as push our own perspective forward.
Hosting debate or discussion events among your employees fosters increased socialisation as well as understanding of different backgrounds and opinions held by people.
This understanding opens up the door to increased inclusion as well as impresses your employees by allowing them to see the unique beliefs held by others around them.
Not only do they learn about their colleagues, but they also learn more about themselves as they begin to positively question their own judgments and perhaps even try new approaches to situations they may be facing in life.
The topic doesn’t even have to be work-related, it just has to be interesting.
3.Award Ceremonies
I’m sure you know of how important award ceremonies can be at the workplace.
Everyone wants to feel a sense of appreciation and acknowledgement.
Therefore, functions that praise employees for hard work or acknowledge them for certain attributes inspire them to perform better as well as allow them to feel valuable in the office space.
You could host awards for people that stand out as hard working or are consistently positively influential within the office space.
Oh yeah, I can’t forget to mention superlatives as well.
Though they don’t award profit-bringing skills or accomplishments such as productivity, they tell employees that they are noticed and not just another name on the payroll.
Some superlatives are actually quite funny as well, check out a few of them here.
4.Corporate Excursions
Excursions are amazing opportunities for your employees to bond and form connections with each other.
One of the best things about these expeditions is that they provide opportunities for you to throw in a variety of team building events that foster collaboration and teamwork-priceless skills when back in the office.
You could take your employees on a hike, a boat ride, maybe a camping trip, the options are endless.
Whatever you choose, as long as it is away from the formality of the office and enjoyable, you’re bound to trigger a sense of appreciation from your employees, inspiring them to continue to work hard to push the business or brand forward.
5.Themed Dinners
Finally here we are at the most popular one-corporate dinners.
Everyone loves a great meal and we all know that food connects us to each other. So hosting dinners every once in a while can do a lot to reinforce the connections between employees.
Now moving on to the word “Themed”. The reason we put it in there is because themes are easily remembered.
When you integrate a theme into your dinner, your attendees are more likely to recall it.
Think about it. Is it easier to remember “just another dinner” or the “football themed dinner” where everyone showed up in their favourite team shirt?
I think we both know the answer to that question.
So what’s the plan?
